Bedford’s Newest History Adventure is proud to present Candlelight Guided Ghost Tours beginning in June 2007. By a candle lit lantern, your 18th Century tour guide will lead you along the historic streets and paths of Bedford as you hear the tales of those spirits who walk among us. Tours are $7.00 per person in advance, $8.00 at the gate, and will last approximately 80 to 90 minutes.
$6.00 each for groups of 10 or more!
All tours start at the National Museum of the American Coverlet (formerly the Bedford Common School) located at 322 S. Juliana Street. Our walking tours are appropriate for all members of the family and are handicapped accessible. Our tour venues include: |

The Hessian Ghoul After the French-Indian War, a former Hessian soldier stabbed a church elder to death in front of an entire congregation. It was only after his crime that he exacted his true revenge on the town. His spirit has been seen, by young and old alike, roaming the area of the park along the Juniata River.

The Hanging Tree Once the location where punishment was administered to the guilty, there is a tree in Bedford which seems to be a popular “hang out” for restless spirits. On dark and windy nights, some say you can hear the cries of those who met their destiny at the end of a rope.

The Lady in the Accident A few years ago on a rainy night, a lady dashed into a local house to report an auto wreck. Little did the homeowners know that the accident that had taken a young woman’s life just outside had actually occurred decades before.

The Ghosts of the National House Now the Golden Eagle, the old National House is the oldest building in Downtown Bedford. A popular and well appointed bed & breakfast, its guests aren’t limited to the traveling visitors or tourists.
